VA Working on the New 2025 Skills Forecast

29 May 2024/Study

The Cedefop Skills Forecast is a vital tool for anticipating future labour market trends and skill demands across Europe. It provides insights into the evolving needs of the workforce over the coming decades. This forecast is crucial for policymakers, educators, and employers as it helps them make informed decisions about education and training strategies, ensuring they are aligned with future job market requirements. Understanding these trends aids in addressing skill shortages, guiding investment in vocational education and training, and enhancing the overall competitiveness and adaptability of the European workforce.

Happy to announce that our Visionary team is working on a study commissioned by Cambridge Econometrics titled “Production of the new 2025 Skills Forecast’ for the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (‘CEDEFOP’)”.

The Cedefop Skill Forecast project provides quantitative projections of future employment trends by sector of economic activity and occupational group. It also estimates future trends in the education level of the population and the labour force. Utilising harmonised international data and a common methodological approach, the project aims to offer cross-country comparisons of employment trends in sectors, occupations, and qualifications. The forecasts and methodologies are validated by national experts.

The roles that VA will fulfil within the project are:

  • Contribution to Task 2: The validation of key assumptions and preliminary sectoral results via the group of Individual Country Experts
  • Role as Country Group Expert: attend in-person workshop (one and half days in April 2024), facilitate discussion among ICEs in the group discussions
  • Contribution to Activity Report No. 2 with the written summary of the group discussion.

The study is expected to be finished by September 2024.
